Living our best lives in Marbella

They say life in Recruitment is ‘work hard, play hard’ and Fruition IT definitely live up to that moniker. Which is why after absolutely smashing our H1 target with 2 months to spare we were rewarded by our MD Sarah with a trip to Marbella.

After a very early morning flight (but still featuring a couple of airport beers, because we’re English and legally obliged to) we arrived to our luxury hotel on Coral Beach. It’s safe to say we were all suitably impressed with our home for the weekend, with Paul Davies particularly pleased to discover an Aldi across the road.

Day One’s activity was a Catamaran trip out into the Mediterranean Sea. With the boat to ourselves and free champagne on board we all definitely felt like ballers. The highlight had to be encountering a group of dolphins (Google tells me that’s called a ‘pod’) swimming right alongside the boat, which was an amazing sight none of us had ever seen before and had us all hanging of the end of the boat to take pictures and videos. The dolphins left us all feeling a little bit giddy – I think Chloe even called it the best experience of her life!

After an amazing day out it was time to go back to the hotel and get ready for the evening. We were taken out for a delicious seafood meal with added entertainment of live flamenco dancing which had us all on our feet in applause. We even had a cameo appearance from our very own Matt Wood who was surprisingly quite good – I think he’d been practicing in the mirror beforehand.

Then it was into swanky Puerto Banus to drink expensive cocktails and rub shoulders with celebrities, if you could call former Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard that! We spent the night in Pangea – an amazing luxury nightclub with a rooftop terrace bar overlooking the harbour. They had firebreathers, dancers and live percussion – but none were more entertaining than the look on Rob Gelder’s face when asked for 55 euros for three drinks.

After shaking off a few hangovers Day 2 brought a trip to Mahiki Beach Club. If sitting on a sun lounger drinking cocktails out of a pineapple isn’t living my best life, then I don’t know what is! The beach club was definitely enjoyed by all, particularly Will Johnson who decided that ‘2 zombies per person’ was just a suggestion rather than a rule which, quite ironically, was probably the reason he literally looked like a zombie the day after.

At night we were treated to another delicious meal, and the Fruition team were treated to some rousing karaoke from yours truly. I struggled to hit the high notes… and the medium notes. And the low notes. To be honest, it was all off. Then it was into Marbella for another night of partying, at this point wishing we could stay for another week.

Day 3 = Hangovers for all! After an amazing weekend we were all sad to be leaving, and it the airport we were all even more glum-faced than the airport staff who had just watched Spain get knocked out of the World Cup on penalties. Having personally only been at Fruition for just over 3 months it was a great team bonding weekend and everyone had worked hard so we could all celebrate our success together.

Best Weekend Ever.
