Looking to meet like minded technology professionals, here’s our January guide to digital and tech events happening in and around Leeds.

 

Our key highlights are the JVM Thing back for the 2018 with our kick off event ‘Java at speed: Building a JVM for Modern Workloads’ and we’ll be sponsoring Leeds Sharp Lightening talks again this month so enjoy a beer and snacks on us plus we’ll be offering advice and guidance tech jobs in Leeds.

 

13th January – Drupal Yorkshire

Drupal Yorkshire supports an open group of digital managers, designers, developers and product owners, meeting on a monthly basis to talk all things Drupal.

25th January – The JVM Thing – Java at Speed: Building a JVM for modern workloads

ava is arguably the most popular development platform on the planet, with literally millions of developers using it. One of the main reasons for Java’s popularity is the JVM that eliminates a lot of the work required from developers for languages like C and C++. Many languages also have compilers that generate class files and bytecodes enabling “Write once, run anywhere.”

25th January – Leeds Ruby Thing

A small informal event for anyone interested in the Ruby programming language. All skill levels welcome, there are a few 5 minute talks at the beginning of each meeting.Anyone is welcome to talk about any subject that they think would be interesting to an audience of Ruby developers.

25th January – West Yorkshire Linux user group

Chat and education about Linux, free and open source software, hardware and other related topics. Both technical and non technical people are welcome. They’re a diverse bunch from new users to long time Linux developers, who welcome new discussions about all aspects of computing which have a Linux edge!
